Not to suggest that Elisabeth is good and Sam is bad…but the picture worked to summarize the colonoscopy/endoscopy and my feelings about them. And really, with this kind of subject matter, a picture of these two cute twins is about the best you could hope for in a visual aid.
AND Elisabeth dressed as some kind of princess/child bride serves to embody everything she thinks is GOOD. Sam dressed as a monster shows everything he thinks is BAD.
So, the picture works.
BUT, you’re not here for cute kids and stories (Okay, you probably are), but for GI tract news!
Here’s what I learned:
First, the Bad.
Neither of these procedures is fun. Like, REALLY not fun. I was surprised by how much rigamarole the prep was. And the fact my throat is still sore thirty-six hours later from the endoscopy tube. And I’m not sure my stomach will ever be quite right again. Yes, all bad things.
The good is that the doctor got the biopsies of my small intestine. This means we’ll soon have confirmation if I have Celiac’s Disease or am only gluten intolerant.
Other good things about these procedures?
None I can think of.
Except that they’re over.
