Here’s my team today. As the twins and M left for school/work early this morning, Catie, Nate and I settled in for a long day of reentry.

Reentry = back to life, back to reality.
Because, yes, our trip was so fun and so relaxing and so exciting.
Which makes the reentry SO hard.
Actually, as any mom knows, transitions are hard. Anyone who’s tried to take a giggling baby out of a hot bath, or turned off a toddler’s favorite TV show, or told a mommy that she has to start making lunches and showering on a regular basis again, knows that the transition is tough.
Catie’s first grade teacher used to play “Oh, What a Beautiful Morning” when it was time for the class to move to Circle Time or back to their desks or whatever. Anything to distract kids you’re trying to transition.
I have a friend who counts down minutes like a metronome. “Fifteen minutes until I’m going to ask you to put your shoes on so we can go!” “Fourteen minutes!” “Thirteen and a half!”
Which does spare her a bit of the “I don’t want to go!” drama. But, of course, she spends half her life counting.
Tomorrow will be even more reentry. Catie’s bus will be here early. Nate and I will have to get dressed to get the twins to school. Someone should probably go to the grocery store.
Tomorrow t will full-fledged real life around here again.
