In this interview with Mary, Paul and Stella McCartney about Linda’s photography, the trio gush about how natural she was with a camera. Over and over they exclaim that their mother made picture-taking so fun for the family! SO NATURAL! Never posed.
Oh, how I wish my family felt this way about picture-taking.
Here are the outtakes from our photo session this November. As my dad snapped away, M and I yelled things like, “Heads down! Face up! Back straight!”
Ironically, Elisabeth (who’s the best about following commands), was the photo bomber. Nate, (who’s not so good at commands), was cute and smiley.
In fact, here’s an outtake he might have just loved smiling at his beloved Papa.
One day we’ll probably look at this year’s Christmas picture and laugh at how we all look a bit silly. Years from now, when the only difficulty is making sure everyone has his/her eyes open, we’ll forget that getting one decent picture meant an all-morning ordeal. That there’s little Christmas-card worthy of four kids (and two parents) who can’t seem to all look at the camera at the same time. Or leave their shoes alone (Catie.)
That’s when we’ll look back at this blog post and remember the outtakes.

Oh, and next year, we’ll remember that Crocs and flip-flops don’t make for good Christmas photos.
