So, tomorrow will actually by my BIG MARDI GRAS post because that’s when I’ll go on and on about the girls’ outfits. Since I’m dedicating an entire post to all their Mardi Gras flair, I thought I should also show the serious bidness that Mardi Gras is for boys.
I took the below picture a little after noon. We still had SO MANY BEADS to catch. As you can tell by Sam’s concentration, catching cheap strands of plastic beads is just about the most important thing he did all weekend.
Which I appreciate since beads that hit the ground break. Our kids don’t care if the beads are broken, and they wear these strands anyway. Broken bead strands are no bueno because the kids trip over them. Concentrate, boy. Catch those beads.
I’m fully aware that future Mardi Gras weekends for our kids might involve them cutting loose in entirely different ways. For now, though, how awesome is it that beads and bands are just about the BEST THING EVER for them?
Speaking of the bands, Sam can dance like the white boy he is. He totally flays his skinny little body around, letting those broken bead strands hit whom they may (which is everyone else in striking-distance).
I really love this picture of our serious party animal getting his groove on. It makes me happy.
Oh. He also loves to do some serious Tae Kwon Do moves.
This is the look he gave me when I said, “Show me how happy you are to be at Mardi Gras!” Really, the dancing pictures showed it better, didn’t they?
Our other little boy also enjoyed Mardi Gras in the best way he knows how: attached to his Goggy. Those people up on the balcony are about to throw some serious beads to that cute two-year-old. Love.
Here are the boys loving their bead catch. Really. They’re also dancing. It’s just more subtle.
