You know what I wish I had right now sitting next to me?
My phone.
It’s in the other room, and it has some terrific picture of the boys at the Monster Truck Rally on it. I would love to show you, and I will tomorrow, but right now I’m exhausted from the weekend of Bible Study writing, plus Girl Scout planning, plus all that running a household with four kids stuff.
Not only that, but it’s not even six in the morning, and I think I hear the girls awake upstairs. Maybe, if I stay right here in my office, they won’t come downstairs.
Because then all the writing fun is over, and I’m off to bake bacon.
All this to tell you I’m posting an outdated picture today.
BUT even the outdated picture has a story to tell.
First of all, I am SO EXCITED to report Nate did not play even one minute of Temple Run this weekend. This is SUCH an accomplishment, and it’s taken the combined force of everyone in our family to deny Nate’s sweet requests for their devices. Plus the combined efforts of my parents who are visiting, and who also have iPhones.
You can tell this picture is outdated since he is definitely having a little Temple Run action on my phone. But, no more! We are kicking this habit with the intervention of every person we know.
On a related note, I’m guessing I was getting a lot more done in those Temple Run days. Now, if he’s sitting on my lap, and I’m at the computer, he’s all like, “Let’s watch videos! Let’s look at pictures!” And I’m thinking…”How about some Temple Run?”
The second reason this picture looks outdated is because my hair has so clearly been blow-dried. I realize this is only a big deal to me since not one person has even noticed I no longer blow dry my hair. Except M, who always says my hair looks great, even when he’s out-of-town and not even LOOKING at my hair.
My air-dried hair doesn’t look that great, but I’m happy for the extra 45 minutes in my day. Comparing my hair in this picture to my air-dried hair today, I realize I’m looking a little like a drowned rat lately. Oh well. I really love that extra 45 minutes.
The last outdated part of this picture is that we’re wearing long-sleeves. That was SO December. My Houston friends are planting gardens, so I’m guessing winter is over here. Thank goodness because those two weeks were really brutal. And I just have to laugh, because everyone I see is like, “Isn’t the weather gorgeous? Aren’t you so glad that HORRIBLE WINTER is over?” and they’re serious. Oh, Houston. I love you.
The girls are up, which I don’t love, since they’ll be wearing their fatigue all day.
And because it’s now time to bake some bacon.

  1. Can’t wait to get our boys together. Thomas has very little interest in phones or TV or any other electronic babysitter. He will be happy to teach Nate how to entertain himself without e-aids….with fun activites like drawing on the walls! Pulling sisters hair! Emptying the wipes container! Touching the fireplace tools to see if they *still* turn his hands black! XOXO
