As Happy as a Monday in January!

So, some crazy person in our family (me) decided it might be REALLY FUN to start January with a strict budget, lofty exercise goals, healthy-eating plans, and intense commitments for everyone to finish new work and school deadlines.
What was I thinking? Because, let me tell you, January has enough trouble on its own, without adding obnoxious budgets and deadlines. The poor month doesn’t have Christmas or Thanksgiving pulling it out of its cold-weather dreariness. January is crippled under its own dismal boringness, why in the world have we decided to add a budget to all this?
But, there has been bright spot. The weather here is beautiful. 77 degrees everyday. Thank goodness, because if we’re not going to the mall, we need a place for the kids to run around like lunatics. Or, as is the case of the below picture, walking Manny on his leash while Nate tears around like a Tazmanian devil on his scooter. Good times.

This is a picture of our porch that I took this morning. Yes, those are pumpkins. Leftover from Thanksgiving. Because we may be saving money rather than visiting Tory Burch (or the Target toy aisle), but we are NOT so structured that we remove our holiday decorations in a timely manner. Why hasn’t the HOA sent us a letter? Maybe the window IS actually five months?
I can’t say exactly why, but the below sign makes me smile every time. Maybe because Sam’s family nickname is Bubba? Maybe because I love Galveston (and other people who do too)?
Whatever the reason, I have this picture on my iPhone, so I can think about it and not dreary January. Or that painful budget.
