Good morning on the day after the election.
I’m so tired from staying up late watching the election results. By late I mean 10:30. I am who I am.
So, in the spirit of being exhausted…and overloaded on knowledge, I’ve only got a list. Any more talk of data points and research and magic walls and further analysis will not be available here—isn’t it so lucky we have several twenty-four news networks for that?

1. Speaking of real time results, I used the camera on my laptop to take this picture. I’m including this third picture of myself in one week because I just noticed I’m wearing the same shirt (different colors) in these three random pictures. This is not a freak accident. This phenomenon is the result of wearing these same Target shirts EVERY SINGLE DAY. I’m so addicted. I wanted to give you the link so you also could buy these $14 shirts in every color, but Target has taken it down.
Or I bought them all.
2. For those of you dying to know the results of yesterday’s mystery, Nate and I drove to the school uniform store to get Elisabeth a new white shirt. The plot thickens because when we picked her up from school and showed her the new shirt, she said, “Actually, I’m kind of used to the red shirt now.” Despite the fact I’d spent the better part of my day trekking down the school uniform store, I was thrilled. “No more white shirts! Yes!” we celebrated together.
But this morning? She pulled on the horrible white shirt because “it felt more right.”
Really, who am I to criticize a girl for loving the same shirt everyday?
3. Our kids voted in their classes yesterday. They’ve all agreed I could share their votes and reasons with you:
Catie…Romney because that’s who her classmates talked about a lot.
Sam…Romney because he hadn’t had his turn yet to be the president for four days
Elisabeth…Romney because someone told her Obama would cost us more money.
4. Catie and Sam had after-school activities yesterday so I took Nate and Elisabeth with me to vote. Even though the lines were very long and the kids were very restless, they got to see the democratic process in action. And they got a ton of those “I Voted!” stickers, which they loved.
After much prayer and debate, I voted for the local candidates who most closely followed my beliefs. Elisabeth and Nate watched (somewhat) somberly as I went through the ballot, helping to elect candidates who would fight for what I believed in.
I left the president race blank until the very end. And when I didn’t check Obama or Romney, Elisabeth looked at me.
I knew the little burgeoning reader would decode who I wrote in…and I knew she would sound it out for the entire polling place.
So, it was a sweet moment when Elisabeth announced, “Guess who my mom voted for to be in charge of our country…
…G-O-D.”
love this, tina. those target shirts. i’ve been eyeing them. 🙂
Great stuff Tina! I won’t be wearing the shirts but I like the way you vote.
Love it Tina! You know how I love a write-in candidate 🙂
