T-minus two days until the twins first day of school. In an attempt to feel a semblance of control over our lives, we had an ambitious weekend. Lots of baking and freezing those baked goods…because come October, nothing will help us feel calm like banana chocolate muffins.
We also went to the beach! This blonde kid below had to show some real ambition to get this far into the water. She’s terrified of oceans (and, inexplicably, lakes) after we watched Soul Surfer on Friday. Bethany Hamilton…that’s a blonde with ambition. Here’s Elisabeth, testing the water–and praying against sharks.

And there was this ambition…the excitement to bury each other in the sand. This had a lot to do with the fact we forgot our 6 trillion sand toys at home. But the kids didn’t even notice, not with wet sand to fling on one another.

Perhaps this was the most blonde moment of our weekend. These ambitious girls visiting from Mexico asked me if they could take a picture with our kids. The girls gushed about how beautiful the kids’ hair was. Catie now wants to visit Mexico, where she’s hoping to be famous.

I think that it was little Nate’s white blonde hair they really wanted a picture with, but his ambition was to hang out with his Goggy all afternoon.

And when Goggy volunteered himself to be submerged in sand, Nate joined in. He was an ambitious sand-gatherer. And, unfortunately, sand thrower. And. maybe, sand-eater.  Well, he is blonde.
I don’t even know what to say about this next picture. Catie’s ambition is to carry Nate around all the time. Which is usually really helpful. And she plays games with him, like pretending to drop him. He loves it. From my view in the water, she looked like a mom thirty years older.

Sam’s ambition was to reach the second sandbar, or at least water over his head. Mine was to NOT have to go out that far. Here’s our tug-of-war…

These two almost-Kindergarteners were ambitious and efficient in building the BIGGEST SANDCASTLE EVER. Biggest ever without any sand toys, that is.

We also forgot to reapply sunscreen so our fair-skinned babes came home pink. Darn it. Oh, well.  Call it another blonde moment.
