One very fun part about summer/spring in this house is the beautiful birds that stop by our backyard. Thanks to the oxbow from Buffalo Bayou that runs right behind our backyard and the dense forest that surrounds it, we have more winged (and non-winged) creatures than you can imagine.
And lizards. Whenever I look outside and see the 4,392 lizards scurrying around out there, I tell M that the backyard belongs to lizards, we just borrow it from them. Which makes the kids happy because they LOVE to catch them.
But that’s a different post.
Last week a Yellow-crowned Night Heron stopped by to visit (and poop all over the playlet).
The girls spotted it and ran downstairs to make sure we saw it too. I snapped a picture just before (s)he took off to hunt lizards in the stream.
And for this majestic bird, even that was beautiful.
