Here are the facts…when your kids have REALLY thin white-blonde hair, and when your kids are REALLY skinny, it’s easy to look WT.
If you Google White Trash–with the exception of some pictures of that TV show Roseanne–you’ll see pictures of skinny blonde kids.
Whereas during the school year our kids wear perky ponytails, collared, tucked-in polo shirts, and socks that match their outfits, it’s not so much like that in the summer.
Which is one of the joys of vacation, the not having to wear uniforms and ponytails. The freedom to embrace their inner WT.
For our kids, another joy of summer vacation is covering their bodies with face paint in all manner of street-carnival-type designs.
Or wearing her Polyester dress-up clothes (Elisabeth) and dirty ballet slippers.
Or not cutting her hair (Catie).
Or having a runny nose (Nate).
And have I mentioned Sam’s joy at wearing the same Husker jersey as much as possible?
All of this freedom, all of these crazy choices, all of this WT brings them so much joy.
And when they look like this at Target?
It brings us all so many stares.
Joy!
