What do you call a country where everyone drives a yellow car?
A Yellow CarNation!
Hahahhaaaa.
Just one example of the fantastic jokes we’re enjoying around here this summer.
We’re also enjoying the game SUNSHINE!
Really, this is more than a game, but an obsession for the Hergenrader Family. And we’re not a family that plays a lot of games.
But the kids LOVE this one. And they’ve got M and I hooked.
It’s so easy…you could play too!
When you’re driving, you look for yellow cars. Every time you see one you yell, “Sunshine!”
“Really?” You’re probably thinking, “How lame.”
Well, you know, it’s kinda lame. But the average age of our kids is like four-years-old. So this is challenging, high entertainment for us.
As it turns out, there are just enough yellow cars on the highways and byways around Houston to make SUNSHINE! interesting. Car lots usually feature a yellow Jeep or Corvette or some yellow vehicle. Huge parking lots typically have at least one yellow car. To make our game more challenging, taxis don’t count and neither do tractors.
Elisabeth is our family’s reigning champ, but Catie is giving her a run for her money. Strangely Sam and Nate have about the same skill level…low. But they both enjoy randomly yelling SUNSHINE.
I’ve admitted to the kids that when I’m (rarely) in the car by myself, I yell “SUNSHINE!” But, I told them, it wasn’t as fun because no one else was around to hear.
Elisabeth quickly admonished me that JESUS was ALWAYS WITH ME and that He could hear.
The girl can Jesus Juke with the best of them.
And spot yellow cars.
