Elisabeth would like all of you to see her outfit. She really takes pride in finding the appropriate outfit for the occasion. And, really, you would have to agree that leggings, matching hoody, and flip flops are perfect for a February walk on the beach.
The real magic here is that she dressed herself in less than an hour–which is how long it takes her brothers and sister to change clothes. Speediness is a quality I appreciate.
True to her nature, Elisabeth remained focused our entire walk. She hunted for and gingerly placed dozens of beautiful shells in her bucket.
She chatted about the birds and what they might eat. She told knock-knock jokes that made no sense.
None of our kids knock-knock jokes make sense.
She stopped to write her NINE-LETTER name. I asked her, again, if she might like to be called Ellie. She stopped long enough to give me a quizzical look. One that clearly asked, “Who IS this Ellie you’re talking about?”

But she got through the NINE-LETTER NAME with marginal success. And our walk was finished.
Right after one more quick picture of her outfit.
And, per her request, one more picture of the beach, where Elisabeth exclaimed, she had the “BEST part of the weekend!”
