A snapshot of yesterday, which was a sick day for the twins and Nate.

I took this picture last night, when the kids were ready for bed at 6:30 PM (thanks, Daylight Savings Time). After a day of resting, trying to kick their coughs, everyone had a little cabin fever.
There’s so much I love about this picture.
Elisabeth in her princess nightgown. The one that is gradually replacing the old family favorite. I must point out that this princess nightgown is every shred as tacky as its predecessor. Still the itchy tulle at the sleeves. Still the inexplicable crystals around the neck. Yet, its Elisabeth’s very favorite.
But the tacky nightgown is not really m what akes me smile about this picture. It’s Elisabeth’s smile. It’s not her posed smile, but the real thing.
Look in the reflection of the window to see the cause of her smile. Her goofy twin, making his absolute silliest face.
After a day together with nothing to do but lay in their beds and giggle and enjoy four-year-old conversation, the two are bonded. Back in sync. In twin mode. Laughing at and with each other.
And, truth be told, I’m right there with them. Despite the trouble of trying to make two four-year-olds rest, it was such a nice day. In our pjs, talking and snacking and bonding.
And laughing with each other.
