Media Debut…Seven Years Old!

Everyone’s getting older around here.

An example:
On Catie’s Birthday, she was on TV.

And by “on TV” I mean that she got to say her name during her school’s video announcements.
And by say her name I mean she mumbled it while sprinting past the microphone. Total improvement from last year when she sprinted so fast, we couldn’t even capture it on our iPhones.
Her media debut inspired her question for me: “Were you on TV on your birthday in the second grade?”
She was surprised to find out we didn’t even have loudspeakers at my elementary school. We had one TV in our house. At school assemblies, we watched movies on an old-fashioned projector.
And even though M and I are sorta-kinda- technology geeks, we’re still falling behind the times.
A recent conversation with Catie.
Catie: I want to go back to Christ Memorial and teach the kids how to draw pictures of Jesus.
Me: You could show them an example on the white board in their classroom.
Catie: What’s a white board?
Me: You know, a white board. A dry-erase board.
Catie: A SmartBoard?
Me: No, a white board, like you have in your classroom.
Catie: I have a SmartBoard in my classroom.
Me: Like the twins have…like a chalkboard.
Catie: The twins have a SmartBoard. What’s a chalkboard?
Me: Like a whiteboard.
Yes. We’re all getting older.
