Sam and Ellie celebrated the big FOUR this week at their school. Like summer birthday kids the world over, they participated in the confusing task of bringing their treats a month early since “No, it’s not your birthday. No one goes to school on your birthday so you’re bringing them today.”
This baffled Sam, who has now given up on trying to understand this nuance and is just telling people he’s now four.
Oh, well. Who needs those last few weeks of three anyway?

Starting this month and ending at just about the end of the summer, all six of us Hergenraders will celebrate our birthdays.
So much cake! So much singing! So much party-ing. So much unwrapping!
I had better hold onto these last few non-birthday weeks as tightly as I can.
