Never again will Sam and Ellie be so…twinny.
The exact same size.
Nearly the same profile.
Identical stances.
Similar expressions.
Really, I could fill a whole blog about the wonders of raising twins.
And the struggles, of course.
One struggle we’re going through right now is when to separate them. Not in school. We’re not ready to tackle that one yet. Their rooms.
Lately the girls have discovered all their common interests (nail polish! pink! coloring! craft projects!). On the weekends, they’re inseparable.
Except at night when Ellie goes to sleep in her Twin room that she shares with Sam.
Ellie has never even considered she could share Catie’s bright pink room with her.
Which would leave Sam in the blue room…where his bed is pushed smack dab next to Ellie’s…the perfect place for whispering and giggling at night.
As sweet and twinny as this is, I know Ellie would love to bask in the attention of her older sister…and bask in those bright pink walls.
It’s not only that Ellie is embracing her feminine side. Sam has also spent more and more time playing Bad Guys and Pirates. For a few days last week, Sam and Ellie didn’t even slip into Twin Mode and call each other hon.
A room separation seemed imminent.
But then they went for a spin on a fire truck (still need to tell that story in another post). And for Sam and Ellie, the excitement of overcoming their fears (and ringing the fireman’s bell repeatedly) outweighed any differences they had been having.
And I was glad they were still sleeping head to foot, as twins, a little longer.
