A Way to a Boy’s Heart…

…is through his stomach.

Nate loves breastfeeding.
Besides the bottles I’ve pumped to give the rest of the family the pleasure of feeding him, my every-three-hour appointments with him have been routine and drama-free. Very nice. Which, by the way, is not exactly how the other kids were as breastfeeders. They cried a lot more, pulled away while nursing, cried, spit up a majority of their feedings. Oh, and did I mention, they cried a lot while they breastfed?
Not Nate. We could be on the cover of a Dr. Sears book. A contented little breastfeeding pair.
Until I woke up this morning. With a raging case of mastitis.
Ouch.
I have breastfed TWINS for six months. I’m supposed to be an expert at this. Nate sure seems to be. How did this happen?
On the way to the doctor for an antibiotic now. If anyone has feedback, I would love something to distract me from the white-hot pain of this infection.
Thanks.

Oh NOOOOOO!! How did this happen?? We were visiting my brother when his wife came down with mastisis….and it was gnarly. Ugh. Nipple shield?? You can get them at Target. Not sure if it would make nursing bearable or not. Get better soon!!

I’ve had this happen a lot. I swear by hot compresses as often as possible until the sore spot and fever are gone. Hope you’refeeling better!
