We’re 24 hours post-injury here at Hergenrader House, and everyone is recovering nicely.

SAM: still managing the pain like a pro-football player. Well, one on heavy doses of pain killers. Which is the case for all pro-football players, for all I know. Sam is loving the extra attention (probably also like pro athletes). And really loving the bonus ice cream.
ELLIE: Thank you to everyone who didn’t ask about the picture of Ellie and Sam on the blog yesterday. Specifically everyone who didn’t say, “Really? Your child has a gaping, gushing cut and you TAKE A PICTURE?” To explain: Sam wanted to see his cut, but it was hard for him to really get a good look at it. Ellie’s idea was to take a picture (her common solution to seeing the back of her hairstyles). After that, I couldn’t resist snapping another one of Ellie comforting her twin in his desperate hour.
CATIE: This child’s true brilliance emerges in situations like this. She’s creative and so caring and loves combining those two so she can help someone she loves. Catie has rigged up an innovative wheelchair for Sam…made from nothing more than stickers, cups, and a desk chair. If she would only apply herself like this to reading, we might not have had yesterday’s Rest-Time Emergency Room Escapade.
NATE: Nate is getting four teeth, got the aforementioned five shots yesterday, and is trying to give up his bottle. He has enough issues of his own to feel Sam’s pain.
Mom and Dad: Tired, tired, and tired.
But thankful for (relatively) healthy kids.
