M took this picture of yesterday’s chapel stars while they waited in the hallway for their big debut. Catie did an excellent job of hiding the Big! Surprise! Guest! Star! while I chatted with the kids. They were totally shocked when a real live dog trotted onto the stage.
Behind the scene there was some poop…and a very restless dog.
Speaking of dogs and behind-the-scenes activity, Catie is doing the ground work, the behind-the-scenes research for the (possible) eighth member of our family. Truly, a new dog is only a possibility. Because everyone knows that taking highly-sensitive seven-year-old girls to visit animal shelters and hold the neglected dogs never equals coming home with one. Never.
But since M knows that’s not true at all, he’s doing his fatherly best to subtract emotion from the dog-adopting equation. We’ve asked Catie to research the kind of dog she wants and write ten sentences about it. Catie has also taken over all Maddie responsibilites (including picking up behind-the-scenes poop at chapel).
The behind-the-scenes truth is that she’s doing a great job with all of this…making our behind-the-scenes animal shelter trips more and more public as we get closer and closer to a Dog Debut.
