Life with Manny, our new Greyhound, is going so well. He loves to play, run around our backyard, and eat the hundreds (really, I’m not kidding) treats the kids feed him.
Our kids are adjusting to having an 80-pound dog who’s tall enough to look them in the eye. Mostly they just drape themselves on top of them and keep feeding him those treats. It’s a win-win.
My in-laws are here with their adorable white dog, who looks exactly like the rabbits Manny chased at the track a couple months ago. BUT even though the tiny white dog wants to play chase (???) with Manny, he’s been a well-mannered boy.
Cue Ebony and Ivory.
(And sorry to get that song stuck in your head for the rest of the day).
Since we’re shattering all Greyhound stereotypes over here, I’d also like to report that Manny is mastering the steps. Greyhounds have such long legs, they’re actually very klutzy on staircases. Plus, because he’s lived in a kennel his whole life, he’s never seen them before. He’s been terrified of our steps. BUT Catie has diligently worked with him to master ours.
With, you guessed it, hundreds of treats.
I hear Maddie in this picture, “What is this? I do these steps all the time and you guys don’t give me treats for it!”
