This weekend we found ourselves with a happy gift: an empty Saturday afternoon.

Wonderful. M and I both took naps. The kids futzed around. They played some epic game of house/pirate ship/ mommy and daddy/ school.
Around 4 PM, I asked them if there was anything else they wanted to do.
Elisabeth had a good idea…actually it was an idea she’s had for months. Almost every day she presents it to us:
“I want the kids to play on the swing set. I want Daddy to work in the yard. I want Mommy to take our pictures.”
So, we all obliged. The kids continued their epic game. M cleared out the drought-striken bushes that didn’t survive the summer. And I took 250 pictures of it all.
A gift, indeed.
