Galveston, Oh, Galveston

Missing Galveston tonight as I look at this picture. Two of my favorite guys in the whole world on the ferry in front of one of the island’s spectacular sunsets.

Today a dear family friend, Curtis Doering, went to heaven. In the picture I have of my Baptism, he’s holding me. He was my favorite Sunday School teacher.
He used to tell us, “Every morning, when your feet touch the ground, thank God for another day to serve Him.” This morning, of course, Mr. Doering’s feet touched the ground in heaven. He lived such a long life serving God. I was privileged to know him.
Thank you, Mr. Doering, for serving God. Thanks for teaching Sunday school and caring about the kids of St. Johns. Thanks for loving the Lord.
And thanks for being a part of Galveston.
