Nurse Tina checking in to report that my three patients (Catie, Sam, Elisabeth) all tried school today. When I went to the twins’ school for lunch duty, Sam’s fever was back so I took both him and (his nurse) Elisabeth home with me.
This morning, when M and I decided to send the kids (after a weekend of each of the kids running a fever at some point) we erred on the side of Go! Go! Go!
That’s because four kids + virus + 7 days = Stop! Stop! Stop!
Case in point, the below picture was taken yesterday afternoon. It was a gorgeous day outside. Usually sunny Sunday afternoons mean bike-riding and general outdoor mayhem for our family. Yesterday (like many days before yesterday) the sickies sipped smoothies and individual water bottles and moaned.
We all had cabin fever, and the kids were starting to look grey…not only from the virus, but also from the general lack of activity.
It was time to get out and do SOMETHING. It was time for mom to stop hovering and checking their foreheads and making smoothies and asking how many times they had peed. It was time for some kid independence. It was time for them to Go! Go! Go!
Below is a picture that is a continuation of the Go! Go! Go! theme. I took this one last weekend (not the sick weekend, the one before it) at Sam’s Tball game. Talk about hovering. Sam, enthusiastically running to third base…all while the coaches (M included) point to Sam STEP HERE. RIGHT HERE!
In the name of Sam gaining confidence and independence (despite the days of lying in bed), we’ll try school again tomorrow.
We will Go! Go! Go!
