Why?
Why do kids love water?
Not only the nice, clean water in their baths… (just a side note, Nate has discovered he can splash in his bath. SO CUTE! SO MESSY!)
Not the sparkling, blue pool.
Not even the kinda-clean stuff from the hose.
How come when the weather is anywhere above 70 degrees, my kids run straight for the buckets and watering cans and dirty water?
WHY do they love to kick off their shoes and mix all the dirt and filthy water together and then stand in it?
And why can’t they wear something dirty? Why does all this have to happen while Ellie is wearing a crushed velvet Christmas dress (which is a hand-me-down, but still)? And Catie and Sam are wearing the rare jeans that still fit their long legs?
Am I doing something wrong?
Or is it possible, that kids and mud and water are such attractive forces, that by allowing this mudpie moment, M and I are actually doing something right?
Given the mess this created, I really doubt that.
