Now that school is in full-swing, Nate is lobbying for a new hobby. His summertime hobbies of wrestling with his bubba, playing iPad with his Sissy, and doing everything else with his Cay-Cay have passed now that they all have left him for school.
Last week he enthusiastically lobbied for trains. All the time. “Chhooooo! Choooooo! Train!!!!!” Even before sunrise, which in our household of early risers was less crazy than when he lobbied after sunset. Clearly that’s bedtime.
BUT! Nate has moved on to Legos. All day, Dr. Seuss-like structures that tower over him. His goal? To use every single block every single time.
The beauty of his intense Lego building (and, of course, subsequent tower-destroying) totally helps me with my goal of accomplishing all the stuff I never got to this summer.
If you gave us hand-me-downs, I’m finally opening the bags. If you’re a teacher who sent home half her classroom in my child’s backpack on the last day of school, I’ve just opened the bunches and bunches of memories. If you had a birthday this summer and I missed it, I’m really sorry. That was back before Nate discovered his Lego phase and he started lobbying for the best kind of hobby of all…the kind he does quietly by himself, right by my side.
