Sorry about all the exclamation marks, but I really am excited about my new devotional. With my other books, I kind of worried when they came out. So much information and connections I worried no one else would agree with or even get. I had some vague mental picture of women screwing up their faces and saying, “Huh? She kind of goes on and on about Jesus.”
Plus, I’m a terrible saleswoman, so book signings or promotions have always been the worst Seriously. At my last signing for God Loves Moms, a little girl stood in front of me with her money, trying to decide whether or not to buy the book for her mom’s birthday. After I said a few lame things like, “Well, she’ll like being in a Bible Study”and “This one is about all the moms in the Bible!” (obviously), she still wasn’t sure. I couldn’t do it. I gave up. Having to talk about why you should buy my book stresses me out.
But…guess what? You should buy this little devotional!
First of all, it’s so small and cute. Remember how, before Kindles and iPads, we used to pass along books? This is the perfect “pass-along” size. But, since it’s so cheap, you could just order a bunch for your friends. Really. The cute size makes it easy to say, “Thanks for teaching Sunday School with me every week.” or “I love jogging with you in the freezing cold, pre-morning hours (ugh. not.). I thought these little devotions would be fun for you.”
Second, the devotions ARE fun. Each one features a friend we all have, “The Really Honest Friend”; “The Forever Friend”; “The Needy Friend,” etc. Sort-of silly descriptions and devotions about why God put these women in our lives.
Third, lots of Scripture. You know this already, but God gave us His Word to inspire and encourage us. So, hey!, here’s an easy way to be in His Word! (Well, for 25 days… then you could pass it along!)
Fourth, if you read this blog because you like seeing the chaos of a family of six barely making keeping it together, this book has a couple stories like that. And, if you read this blog, chances are you’re my friend. Maybe you’re in the book!
Fifth, it’s cheap. If you order 49 or more (that would be great!), each one is only $.99. I LOVE THAT. With that kind of price, I could sit at signings all day long, telling little girls. “C’mon. You can’t buy a pack of gum for that price. Just get your mom the book already.” You can order them here.
Sixth, there’s the cutest gift stuff to go with the book. Like this and this and this.
Even though you’re not supposed to pick favorites (kids or books or whatever), this one might be mine. It’s so small and cute and cheap and easy. Because of that, unlike my other books, I can say, “Order yours today!”
I got my order yesterday. I can’t wait to give them to everyone I know. I am thrilled and so proud of our fabulous daughter-in-law!
I can’t wait to order one! How exciting 🙂
