Ah, LegoLand! This big bit of tourist fun is tucked into downtown Kansas City. On our trip (I know, you’re like, “Enough with the trip! Never let that girl leave again! It’s all she talks about!”) we visited the Land of Millions of Legos with my brother and my folks.
So fun! So exhausting! So many Legos!
I use this picture and introduction to segue into the story that I’m making good on my promise to purge our house of all the STUFF we don’t need.
Because ALL THE TOYS! ALL THE LEGOS! WE’RE TURNING INTO HOARDERS!
So, in an effort to de-clutter when I’m not attached to the clutter (again, the trip), I’ve been like a madwoman filling up bags of things I haven’t been able to say goodbye to until now. Right now I have no emotional attachment to the clutter because I haven’t seen it.
UNTIL YESTERDAY.
Yesterday, as I filled my bags, the kids un-filled them. And started to play with the all the toys the LOVE and CAN’T EVER GET RID OF.
If you’re a mom, you know what happened next. Watching all four kids play quietly for hours with the bag of old toys sealed the deal that those toys would be in our home FOREVER. I’m such a sucker. Any toy that promises independent play is welcome in my home. Even if the kids left a trail of raggedy stuffed animals and questionably-dressed Barbies for me to clean-up.
If only I had a back-lit Lego organizer like this…and it fit the army of Barbies who are looking for their clothes.
