Where should they go to school?
Oh my.
If I had known this last decision would require more of my energy THAN ALL OTHER DECISIONS COMBINED, I may have not used so much time on the others.
For Catie, our conundrum was public vs. private. Oh, and her age. Cursed are those babies born in late August/early September. Should they be freakishly old for their class or freakishly young? I have talked to HUNDREDS of moms (really, not exaggerating) about these questions. And that doesn’t even touch the nightly discussions M and I have. Seriously, to not fret about your child’s education is to not be a modern parent.
At least that’s what I’m telling myself as we try to chart Sam and Ellie’s school path for next year.
Which school? Which days? Which teacher? Which year?
Because, like their sister (and younger brother), they have a summer birthday. And their twins. And have shared attention from Day One. And there just seems like so many paths we could chose.
But we may have an answer.
After all the praying, discussing, and deciding, yes, we may just have a pre-school plan.
It’s unorthodox. We will leverage our investments in their current school (love), their current teacher (ADORE!), our strong family (blessed), their natural curiosity and eagerness for challenge (exciting), and our confidence in them as their own twin cohort (so fun).
We’re looking at keeping them in their 3-year old class, with the same wonderful teacher.
Which is either the most creative, wonderful plan ever OR will stunt their intellectual growth.
Really, we’ll probably never know the one right answer….
…because after all our years of fretting, we know the only one right answer is that there really isn’t one right answer.
*sigh*
Happy Thursday!
