The Kids Are Alright: Smurf Edition

Next May, when I’m worried about the summer, and having all the kids home for MONTHS with not much on the calendar….remind me. The kids are alright.

They’ll find interesting, creative, mostly safe things to do.
For example, painting.
Not their rooms. Not pictures.
Themselves.
And not just their faces, their bodies.
Although complete paint cover SEEMS like a messy idea, it actually washes right off, either in the pool or with all the SWEATING we’re all doing.
Except when Sam decided to turn himself into a Smurf. Not that he knew he was doing that exactly when he painted his ENTIRE body (including teeth, tongue and EYES) blue. The paint just called to him (and the fact he had an audience of older neighborhood boys).
Oh my.
It was a long hot shower for Sam that night.
So, yes the kids are alright. It’s a joy to have them home all summer without much on the calendar.
One activity I think we’ll skip?
Going to see the Smurfs movie.
Sam doesn’t need any more inspiration.
