Sam and Ellie’s school performed one last week. Oh. My. Goodness. Wonderful! I had no idea how far pageants/shows/programs had come since my own Lutheran school days. One of their teachers wrote the script to include God’s great promise of Jesus from Adam and Eve through the Bible all the way to Sam and Ellie with halos singing about His birth and shouting, “Glory to God in the highest!”
The music–the part that always gets me–was performed by Crosspoint’s band and lots of instruments. There were show lights, commercial grade sound system, and kids singing about Jesus at the top of their lungs. Ah-may-zing. The perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit.
About the only tradition carried over from thirty years ago were the cookies and punch after the show. They may have been the same assortment of snicker doodles and vanilla cremes I remember.
Somehow perfect Christmas cookies.
Even more perfect? Sam and Ellie singing “Go Tell it on the Mountain”…now with a picture of the World (via Google Earth) on the HD screen behind them.
