This weekend was Ellie’s big ballet recital. The day had it all…months of practice, frilly leotard costume, Grandma in town, big stage, bright lights, make-up (don’t get me started, that’s another post), flowers, and toe-twirling.

It was quite a show.
But, like the woman sitting behind us said, “There are two shows here today.”
There were the ballerinas, of course.
And then there was the crowd there to watch their budding ballerinas.
Families with so many relatives that they took up four rows. Fidgety siblings. Crying mee-maws and even teary grandpas.
And in our row: Jolly babies who smiled at everyone (Nate), and twin brothers who were perplexed (and questioning the show: “where is ELLIE? WHERE IS ELISABETH? WHICH ONE IS SHE?!”), and an older sister (with a matching bun in her hair) who cheered and waved from the crowd. And daddies who arrived just in the nick of time.
And that’s why I chose this picture to document Ellie’s recital…because there was the show of her dancing…and then one of our family watching her dance–and trying to get our whole crew in and out of the theater.
And both were special memories.
