As per their tradition, Aunt Katie took Catie to the zoo the day after school left out. Both of the K/Caties look forward to this day of being together, seeing the animals, and celebrating the conclusion of another great year. This year we sent Catie with an old digital camera so that she could capture the whole experience from her perspective.
She came home with some pretty good pictures. A lot she took through glass…because when it’s something like 100 degrees outside, you hang out in the zoo’s rooms a lot and take pictures through glass.
She also came home with this surprise picture, which I love. Katie and I laughing together, something we do a lot.
I was surprised by how tall we look. I imagined how this is Nate’s view of the world, of his mommy. And it explained why he loves to be held. Instant height! An instant view of the world from this woman who seems so big.
Catie’s perspective (of our home, of the zoo) was so interesting, I’m thinking about giving her a camera to record one of our summer days around the house.
All the snacks, all the art projects, all the swimming, all the reading, all the running around…
and all the laughter.
