Today’s Fraudulently Asked Questions is with both Sam and Elisabeth. Once and for all, we are killing the dream that Texas will pass a law allowing boy/girl twins to marry each other.
(Although these questions and answers are fraudulent, we actually do have this conversation a couple times a week. The whole situation is both really funny and a little icky. Not unlike life.).
FAQ #1: Sam and Elisabeth, your mom says the two of you have agreed to marry each other? Has she also told you it’s against the law for brothers and sisters to marry?
Sam: It won’t be against the law when we’re grown up. I’m becoming President and making it a law you can marry whoever you want. Even your twin.
Elisabeth: If he doesn’t become President, I’m becoming queen. One of us will pass the law.
FAQ #2: That wouldn’t work. Elisabeth, you would have to marry to become queen…which means you couldn’t marry your twin. Besides, don’t you think you’ll both want to marry other people one day?
Elisabeth: No. Definitely not. We’ve already promised each other. We are getting married as soon as we get that law changed.
Sam: Elisabeth is my best friend. No one plays Bad Guys and Super Heroes like she does.
FAQ #3: But do you realize that marriage is about more than playing Super Heroes?
Sam: Why does everyone keep saying that?! WHAT is marriage about? Why is it such a big deal to marry your sister?
Elisabeth: Yeah! We already know we like each other. And we could live next door to our Mommy and Daddy!
FAQ #4: It’s good to have goals. It’s good to want to change laws. But why not focus on something else for a little bit?
Sam: Alright. I’m still becoming President. I’m going to change the laws about speed limits, seat belts, and helmets.
Elisabeth: I’m going to go and plan the wedding. Today, it’s the playroom, but one day, it’ll be for real.
Just watch.
