Today’s Fraudulently Asked Questions is with Sam and Elisabeth. As six-year-olds, they are in that delightful stage of both hating and loving hobbies. They hate stopping their play to attend ballet and Tae Kwon Do lessons. But they love every other sport they aren’t a part of. They’re old enough to have opinions, but still too young to really know what they want to do.
I’ll let them explain.
FAQ #1: This makes your fourth year of ballet, Elisabeth. You must love it to stick with it for so long. Can you tell us about ballet?
Elisabeth: I love ballet most when I’m not doing it. I love to talk about it. And buy cute ballet accessories. But I really don’t like going to ballet every week. Especially when my mom makes me stop playing Pretend Ballerina to go and take a class about ballet.
FAQ #2: You like Pretend Ballerina more than actual ballet classes?
Elisabeth: Yes! During Pretend Ballerina, I’m a ballet dancer who only has recitals. Sam is a famous Tae Kwon Do guy, and I’m a famous ballerina. And we never have to practice.
FAQ #3: Sam, you too? Do you prefer being an expert at Pretend Tae Kwon Do rather than learning the actual skills?
Sam: Oh, definitely. Actual Tae Kwon Do practice is all about learning rules of discipline. When we play Pretend Tae Kwon Do, there are no rules. Just awesomeness. And, by the way, that’s why I would rather play soccer.
Elisabeth: And I would rather do gymnastics.
FAQ #4: Sam, didn’t you already do soccer and quit? Elisabeth, haven’t you already tried gymnastics and gave up?
Elisabeth: I think this time could be different! The only reason I didn’t like gymnastics before was because they always had practice. I’m telling you, I have no time in my life for practices!
Sam: I don’t have time for practices either! Especially if I’m doing something more interesting when my mom tells me it’s time to go. That’s when I announce I’m quitting real Tae Kwon Do for pretend. Or soccer. Because everyone knows, you don’t have to practice for that.
