1. Go to church for yourself. You need the quiet space, the Sabbath, the communion. You need to know everything will be okay if you turn off your phone, your Instagram, and your to-do list. Better actually. Listen closely to the ancient Word, the new songs, and the liturgy you’ve heard seven thousand times. You need these words and their peace.
2. Go to church for God, for worship. You will be reminded life isn’t about you. What a relief. Look up from your tiny sand city and enjoy the ocean view. Breathe this in deeply, friend. The world isn’t as finite as you’re believing and neither is God’s grace. Go to church for that news.
3. Go to church for your family. The world will tell your kids they’re too busy for church. In a million ways, they will learn that work, sleep, brunch, homework, and everything else is more important than their Savior. But not you. You get to be the one who shows them what is important. Be that person.
4. Go to church for those people you don’t know. They’re old and need to see your kids and know the next generation still loves Jesus. Or they’re young and need to see moms and dads who love each other. Or they’re your friends, or will be your friends, and need to hear your story. They need to tell you theirs.
